ABOUT ASSET CAB CONSULTING

A specialty built out of what kept going wrong.

For over three decades, we designed, fabricated, and installed elevator cab interiors. We saw the same problems repeat on every project. Asset Cab Consulting was built to prevent them.

WHY ACC EXISTS

We didn’t set out to build a consulting firm. The industry built the need for one.

After 30+ years of designing, fabricating, and installing elevator cab interiors, the pattern was impossible to ignore. The same problems showed up on every project. Not because anyone was negligent. Because no single discipline was built to own the cab interior from the client’s side.

Architects would specify finishes that couldn’t meet weight limits or fire ratings. Elevator consultants would treat the interior as a line item. Fabricators would bid to their own inventory. And somewhere between all of them, scope would fall through the cracks. Change orders. Failed inspections. Timelines wrecked over details that could have been caught before the first bid went out.

ACC was founded to close that gap. One firm dedicated exclusively to elevator cab interiors, working independently of any fabricator, any product line, and any vendor in the bid stack. The experience that used to serve a fabrication pipeline now serves the people paying the bill.

THE TEAM

Who’s on your side of the table.

Carol Gray, founder of Asset Cab Consulting

Carol Gray

Carol has spent over three decades in the cab interior business. Designing, specifying, estimating, and building the work across every property class, from Class A high-rises to Class C value properties.

She knows the specifications, the code requirements, the bid dynamics, and the fabrication realities from every angle. She founded Asset Cab Consulting because the scope needed someone on the owner's side of the table, and the people best qualified to be there shouldn't be the ones trying to sell you the finished product.

Carol answers the phone. In an industry where getting someone on the line is a small victory, that alone sets her apart.

Jon Whaley, founder of Asset Cab Consulting

Jon Whaley

Before elevator cab interiors, Jon spent five years in oil and gas safety and engineering, supporting offshore drilling operations for major energy companies. It’s a high-stakes, precision-driven environment where small oversights cause serious accidents. He carries OSHA 510 certification from that work.

Twelve years in cab interiors followed. He’s built them, managed the installations, written and reviewed bids line by line, and signed off on the change orders before they went out the door. When ACC flags a missing item in a specification, it’s because Jon has spent twelve years on the receiving end of what gets left out.

Carol owns design and code compliance. Jon owns buildability. He won’t raise a problem without bringing a solution, and he’ll tell you straight when something can’t be built the way it’s drawn. Every recommendation ACC delivers has been pressure-tested by both.

OUR STANDARD

Five principles. All of them operational.

PRINCIPLE

Building-appropriate recommendations.

No upsell. No undersell. Every property gets what the building actually needs, whether it’s Class A, B, or C. Not what’s most expensive. Not what’s most convenient.

PRINCIPLE

Ego-free expertise.

We work behind the scenes. Your architect, your elevator consultant, and your maintenance company stay front and center. We handle the cab interior scope so the whole team looks good, without needing to credit the assist.

PRINCIPLE

Relentless responsiveness.

We answer the phone. We return emails the same day. In an industry where getting someone on the line is a victory, we treat responsiveness as a baseline, not a differentiator.

PRINCIPLE

Client-first decisions.

Every recommendation serves the project. Not our pipeline. Not a vendor relationship. Not the next engagement. The project. That’s the only test we apply.

PRINCIPLE

Practical over pretentious.

Functional, not flashy. We’re not here to impress anyone with jargon. We’re here to make sure the investment is worthwhile and the project runs clean.

WHY IT MATTERS

Principles are easy to list. See ours in every conversation, every specification, and every bid review.

SCOPE DISCIPLINE

What we aren’t.
By design.

Not a fabricator.

We don’t build or install cab products.

We don’t keep inventory. We don’t have a product line. Our recommendations exist because they’re right for your building, not because they’re what we sell.

Not a mechanical elevator consultant.

We don’t design equipment, controllers, or maintenance programs.

We handle CAB interiors. That’s the whole scope.

not competing with either.

We partner with fabricators and elevator consultants while serving the owner.

A consultant’s wingman. A fabricator’s clean spec. Everyone wins.

Not a big firm. Not a side hustle.

A dedicated advisory practice.

Small enough to answer the phone. Deep enough to own the whole scope.
